When it comes to leadership, few things evoke the horror of a corrupt, iron-fisted, classless bully coming into power. In pop-culture history, there have been very few films that predicted the future so accurately as ‘Back to the Future 2’ . Although not as well received as the original, the predictions about technology we use today from, cell phones, to Skype, to the Internet, and yes political predictions are all stunningly accurate.

Plenty of theories about the “Back to the Future” film franchise remain firmly planted in skepticism, but one nagging theory has finally been confirmed: That Donald Trump did serve as inspiration for the bully Biff Tannen has finally been confirmed as true.

In an interview with the Daily Beast, “Back to the Future” franchise writer Bob Gale revealed that Tannen — who in the second installment graduates from small-town bully to wealthy megalomaniac — has a little bit of The Donald in him.

Back to the Future 2 writer Bob Gale confirms Biff’s character based on Trump

Asked whether he’s thought about the similarities between Trump and Tannen as Trump continues to make headlines with his fascist, dictator type rule of America — Gale replied, “We thought about it when we made the movie! Are you kidding?”

Gale continued, “You watch ‘Part II’ again and there’s a scene where Marty confronts Biff in his office and there’s a huge portrait of Biff on the wall behind Biff, and there’s one moment where Biff kind of stands up and he takes exactly the same pose as the portrait? Yeah.”

The revelation comes amid a wave of heightened interest in “Back to the Future 2 ” as this year marks the films 30 year anniversary where Marty McFly and Doc Brown traveled  into 1989.

Plenty has been said recently about the predictive accuracy of the film and the Biff/Trump analogy could spell bad news for America if Trump continues his abuse of our democracy: In the film, Tannen used his wealth and power to transform Hill Valley into a dystopian nightmare which is eerily similar to what we could be facing here in America if all of this continues.
