What America’s New Militarized ‘Space Force’ Could Look Like

by Stephen BrownMarch 19, 2019

On Monday, President Trump ordered the Pentagon to immediately begin the creation of a Sixth Branch of the US Military designated as The US Space Force.

“I am hereby directing the Department of Defense and Pentagon to immediately begin the process necessary to establish a space force as the sixth branch of the armed forces,” Trump said during a meeting of the National Space Council.

“Our destiny beyond the Earth is not only a matter of national identity but a matter of national security,” Trump said.

“Our destiny beyond the Earth is not only a matter of national identity but a matter of national security,” Trump said.

“Our Policy Board will begin working on this issue, which has implications for intelligence operations for the Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy,” Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said in a statement. “Working with Congress, this will be a deliberate process with a great deal of input from multiple stakeholders.”

So now that we have taken this great leap into the realm of science-fiction…We at Digilyfe asked…

WHAT WOULD THIS NEW ‘SPACE FORCE’ LOOK LIKE??? WHAT WOULD THEY BE DOING???

Obviously the first images that came to my mind of  a futuristic space soldiers would be The Rough & Rugged Colonial Marines from 1986 Film Aliens. The back story of the Colonial Marines from Wikipedia says that the US Colonial Marines were formed in the year 2101:

” The United States Colonial Marine Corps (USCM), commonly known as the Colonial Marines, is the United Americas‘ primary “force-in-readiness”, founded in 2101.[1] The Colonial Marines, along with the United States Army, are part of the United Americas Allied Command. The primary duties of the Colonial Marine Corps are to maintain security for all United Americas signatories and at all extraterrestrial colonies that fall under United States of America’s control, and serve as the vanguard of any major combat operation. They have fought on more than two dozen worlds, including Tientsin (8 Eta Bootis A III), Helene 215, Linna 349BG-386LV-1201LV-742, and the infamous Acheron (LV-426). ”

So Would The New ‘Space Force’ personnel be more scientists than soldiers?

Though our own discussions here at the Digilyfe office, and through our own research, we surmised that in order for this new ‘Space Force’ to be functional, much of the work initially would have to be done by military or NASA scientists, and  many of the people recruited for integration into this new command would probably be technical NCO’s and Officers most likely with high level aeronautical, science, or technical degrees. Of course with any military command structure, there are varying levels of designated officers and this is what we think it could be.

What Kind Of Equipment would this New ‘Space Corps’ Have?

Since we obviously don’t have inter-galactic travel yet (or maybe not revealed to the public) This new ‘Space Corp’ in the beginning will probably be traveling in low earth orbit ships close to earth as seen in this artist rendering above.
A far cry from the inter-galactic military transport ship ‘Sulaco’ from Aliens.

Interestingly, we reported that The US Air Force has been experimenting heavily with the mysterious hypersonic low-earth orbit vehicle the X-37B.

Read about it here > http://www.digilyfe.co/2013/01/x-37-b-americas-new-space-vehicle-but-first-the-military-is-using-it-for-spying/

So What Would They Be Doing In Space Exactly?

Although much of the ‘Space Forces’ work at the moment is highly secretive, Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says that In essence, the new service would elevate the Air Force Space Command to be on par with other military services in its own right. The command focuses on space & space cyber operations,  management and launch of satellites that provide Global Positioning System coordinates, weather and navigational data, and surveillance of  foreign military to the protection of space assets, and American space colonies in the future.

We love technology, and the fact that real-life is mirroring science-fiction is very cool. However, one has to step back and ponder what the ramifications of man taking his war-mongering ways into space will mean for the future of mankind. Will our future be they peaceful utopia envisioned by Gene Rodenberry, or will it be the semi dystopian greed centered future envisioned by James Cameron in Aliens & Avatar?

Only Time Will Tell… For Now Get Ready because it’s coming.
