Legendary films, the studio behind Christopher Nolan’s  ‘Batman Begins,’ ‘The Dark Knight,’ ‘Inception,’ and ‘Interstellar’ recently confirmed a new collaboration with Sunrise to bring a live-action Mobile Suit Gundum Movie to theaters in the near future!!

That’s right…Mobile Suit Gundam, one of the most influential giant robot sagas of all time, is heading to the big screen!!

Legendary made the announcement  at The 2018 Anime Expo  which sent nerds into a absolute  frenzy. Details are scarce at the moment, and the press release by the studio stresses no story details as of yet. However, the press release  does include a brief story synopsis for the film being set in the “Universal Century,” the main timeline that many of the of Gundam storylines are set in, It Reads:

…” The Gundam series is set in the Universal Century, an era in which humanity’s growing population has led people to emigrate to space colonies. Eventually, the people living in the colonies seek their autonomy, and launch a war of independence against the people living on Earth. Through the tragedies and discord arising from this human conflict, not only the maturation of the main characters, but also the intentions of enemies and the surrounding people are sensitively depicted.”

Fans started inquiring about Hollywood bringing Gundum to the big screen after Gundum was shown in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Ready Player One’

This feels like the right time for  the Gundum film to happen. Hollywood
is capitalizing on many Anime classics with Pacific Rim, and James Cameron announcing ‘Battle Angel’ for 2019, the timing is right for the Gundum Project to unfold. Also with Legendary Studios developing the film, shows that Hollywood is taking the Gundum project seriously.

Look for The Live Action Gundum Movie in 2020!

We will continue to bring you updates to this story as they develop #Digilyfe
